God doesn’t send a Wife to a Man Still Chasing One
A lot of men today are looking for a girlfriend, but they haven’t asked a more important question:
“Am I ready to lead a wife?”
And those are not the same thing.
Because a girlfriend is someone you date.
A wife is someone you are called to lead, protect, and serve spiritually.
That’s a completely different level of responsibility.
1. Stop Chasing. Start Becoming.
There’s nothing wrong with wanting a relationship.
Marriage is good. It’s biblical.
But chasing a relationship as your main focus? That’s where things get out of order.
Jesus says in Matthew 6:33 (NLT):
“Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need.”
Notice the order.
It doesn’t say, “Seek a relationship, and God will fit into your life.”
It says:
Seek God first.
Build your life around Him.
And then things are added.
Including relationships.
2. Adam Didn’t Go Looking for Eve
In the beginning, God created Adam.
And what did Adam do?
He worked.
He tended the garden.
He obeyed God.
He wasn’t wandering around saying, “Where’s my wife? Where’s my Eve?”
He didn’t even know she existed yet.
And then God said:
“This isn’t complete yet.”
And God brought Eve to Adam.
That matters.
Because it shows us something powerful:
God brings the right woman at the right time to the man who is already walking in purpose.
3. The Danger of Fixation
When your mind is constantly on women, dating, and relationships, you start making decisions emotionally instead of spiritually.
You lower your standards.
You ignore red flags.
You compromise your values.
Why?
Because you’re not looking for a wife anymore.
You’re looking for relief from loneliness.
And those are very different things.
4. Not Just Any Woman. A Godly Wife.
Let’s be clear:
This isn’t about avoiding women.
This is about aiming higher.
You’re not looking for just a girlfriend.
You’re looking for a God-loving, God-fearing wife.
A woman who:
- Respects God
- Lives with integrity
- Supports your walk with Christ
- Challenges you to grow
Because Proverbs 31 isn’t describing someone casual.
It’s describing someone rare.
And here’s the truth:
If you want a godly wife, you have to become a godly man.
5. Preparation Over Pursuit
Instead of asking:
“How do I find her?”
Start asking:
“Am I ready for her?”
Are you:
- Spiritually grounded?
- Emotionally stable?
- Financially responsible?
- Disciplined with your habits?
Because marriage doesn’t fix your weaknesses.
It exposes them.
6. Singleness Is Not Wasted Time
A lot of men treat singleness like a waiting room.
Like life hasn’t really started yet.
That’s not biblical.
The Apostle Paul actually speaks highly of singleness because it allows you to focus fully on God.
Now, not everyone is called to stay single.
But everyone is called to use their season well.
So instead of wasting this time scrolling, comparing, and chasing, build something.
Grow.
Develop your character.
Strengthen your faith.
7. Attraction Follows Alignment
Here’s something most people won’t tell you:
When your life is aligned, you don’t have to chase as much.
You attract.
Not in a manipulative way.
Not in a “game” way.
But in a natural, grounded way.
Because you become:
- Clear in your values
- Strong in your identity
- Steady in your direction
And that draws the right kind of woman.
8. You Still Have a Role
Now let’s correct something important:
This doesn’t mean you sit back and do nothing.
You don’t isolate.
You don’t avoid people.
You don’t ignore opportunities.
The Bible says:
“He who finds a wife finds a good thing…” Proverbs 18:22 (NLT)
So yes, you will still need to:
- Put yourself in the right environments
- Build community
- Take initiative when the time is right
But you’re not chasing out of desperation.
You’re moving with clarity and purpose.
9. Discernment Over Emotion
When you’re grounded in your faith, you start to see clearly.
You stop being impressed by:
- Looks alone
- Attention
- Temporary chemistry
And you start valuing:
- Character
- Consistency
- Faith
Because beauty fades.
But character builds a home.
10. The Real Goal
The goal isn’t just to “get a girlfriend.”
The goal is to build a life that honors God.
And invite someone into that life who shares that mission.
That’s what marriage is.
Not two people filling each other’s emptiness.
But two people walking in the same direction.
What Should You Actually Do Instead?
So what should you actually do instead?
Here it is:
1. Seek God First
Daily, consistently.
2. Build Your Life
Spiritually, physically, financially.
3. Develop Discipline
In your habits and decisions.
4. Surround Yourself With Strong Community
Build relationships with people who will challenge and encourage you.
5. Raise Your Standards
Don’t settle for less than a God-fearing woman.
6. Be Patient
Trust God’s timing over your urgency.
Because when you do this, you’re no longer chasing a relationship.
You’re becoming a man ready for one.
And when the time is right, you won’t need to force it.
You’ll recognize it.
You’ll lead it.
And you’ll build something that actually lasts.
And that’s the better story.
